Next-Generation Cochlear Implant

THE CHALLENGE
A global leader in cochlear implants, renowned for product quality, faced rising competition from new all-in-one, user-experience-focused solutions. Our challenge was to explore the future of their platform, uncover unmet user needs, and define a new, competitive product strategy.

MY CONTRIBUTION
As a key mechanical engineer, I was responsible for bringing the team's research and strategy to life. I spearheaded the proof-of-concept (POC) exploration for three "sacrificial" concepts, distinct strategies designed to provoke user feedback. My role was to lead the hands-on prototyping, translating early-stage R&D and strategic ideas into tangible, high-fidelity models that we could test with users and stakeholders to accelerate design iteration and build confidence in the final product vision.

THE OUTCOME
The research from our prototypes delivered 10 actionable insights into unmet user needs. We created a definitive product requirements list for the next-generation device and delivered two final, validated concept designs that set a new, innovation-led direction for the client's product roadmap.
