JTI | Ploom Smart Accessories

THE CHALLENGE
JTI sought to elevate its Ploom brand by expanding its ecosystem from simple, passive accessories to a new family of smart, electronic devices. The goal was to create premium, design-led products that offered new functional value and enhanced the user's in-home experience.

MY CONTRIBUTION
My role was to take three validated concepts and develop them into production-ready products.
My work involved detailing the mechanical architecture for all three accessories: the "Tinkerbell" (a portable lantern and stick tray), the "Mariekondo" (a home charging station), and the "Pinocchio" (a wireless charging cover). I collaborated with the electronics integration and used continuous 3D-printed prototyping to validate usability, ergonomics, CMF, and all functional mechanics.

THE OUTCOME
We delivered the complete technical specifications for all three accessories. JTI successfully launched the products in an Italian test market , where they were met with high consumer interest, validating the new design-led strategy and paving the way for a global scale-up.
